Requirements

  • The level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree in business.
  • Five to seven years of purchasing experience with experience in services procurement and contracting a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communications and negotiation skills with strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Strong competency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with Workday Financial Cloud software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directs corporate procurement program and develops strategic sourcing programs for the Joint Commission and its subsidiaries aimed at achieving high value results while ensuring that legal, financial, compliance and security risks are identified, evaluated, and addressed by the business.
  • Ensures that sourcing programs are fundamentally sound and consistent with the pursuit of best-in-class practices and approaches are aligned with the size and scope of the enterprise’s business needs.
  • Leads the Vendor Management Life Cycle Program, including Vendor Relationship and Performance Management and its continuous development. Partners with business owners on achieving a high degree of competency and excellence in procurement outcomes; ensures new business owners are engaged and trained on program and supporting system.
  • Partners with business owners on the development and solicitation of Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Quote (RFQ), and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for purchase of goods and services.
  • Evaluates vendor performance based on pricing, delivery schedules, and other information relative to product acceptability and vendor service.
  • Identifies opportunities to achieve expense reductions through analysis of company expenditures and alignment of vendors or contracts.
  • Serves as a key evaluation resource in major procurement decisions. Ensures sourcing decisions on all complex or large dollar procurement programs are conducted in accordance with vendor management protocols, with a special emphasis on obtaining optimal level of value through negotiation and competitive positioning.
  • Directs and leads contracting for all centralized purchases. Leads administration of vendor portals and punch-outs. Monitors compliance with corporate procurement policies and ensures the appropriateness of authorizations on transactions.
  • Supervises staff in the processing of transactions and monitors program efficiency and effectiveness through appropriate key performance indicators. Implements and maintains corporate policies and procedures for areas of responsibility. Acts as administrator for corporate purchasing card program, ensuring program operates smoothly and as designed. Acts as reporting point for traveler car accidents and initiates coordination with insurance carriers.
  • Develops and maintains expert functional knowledge of Procurement system software and system requirements. Trains enterprise staff on the proper use of the system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workday Financial Cloud software preferred.
