Requirements

  • Minimum of four years of communications experience, including at least two years focused primarily on earned media strategy and execution
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a day-to-day media lead across multiple healthcare accounts—developing, driving, and executing earned media strategies that span national, consumer health, trade, regional, and local media outlets
  • Craft and deliver strategic media outreach plans that align with client business goals and integrated campaign objectives
  • Proactively pitch to key journalists and secure meaningful media placements across print, broadcast, online, and emerging platforms
  • Lead the development of core media materials including pitch letters, media lists, briefing documents, and coverage recaps
  • Manage media events, interviews, and desk-side briefings from start to finish
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff—providing thoughtful feedback, coaching, and accountability
  • Build strong client relationships by providing sound counsel and clear communication
  • Stay on top of media trends, public health conversations, and breaking news to identify proactive media opportunities
  • Contribute to new business development by supporting media strategy development and presenting to prospective clients
  • Collaborate across Edelman’s integrated teams (paid, creative, digital, strategy) to ensure a cohesive media approach

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of both traditional and emerging media platforms, with the ability to recommend integrated strategies
  • Proven ability to lead day-to-day media efforts across multiple accounts or campaigns
  • Experience managing health and wellness-related media campaigns, including product launches, informational interviews, and executive visibility
  • Strong relationships with health and lifestyle media, including national, trade, and regional outlets
  • Ability to develop timely, newsworthy story angles that align with media cycles and client goals
  • Confident communicator who can manage client interactions, media relationships, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Familiarity with the media logistics of spokesperson coordination, interview staffing (virtual and in-person), and post-interview follow-up
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members and managing project timelines and priorities
  • A proactive mindset and a drive to stay ‘always on’ with what’s trending in the health media space
