Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an operations or technical discipline
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the theory, design, development, practical implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the GE Aerospace SMS to support safety methodologies and techniques for engines, services, systems, equipment and devices
- Develop and lead efforts to identify elevated risks and threats across the enterprise by connecting and analyzing all available individual site hazard data across the network
- Execute processes to identify, evaluate, assess and mitigate safety risks inherent to the product design (production and maintenance) to an acceptable level
- Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influence policy formulation within GE Aerospace, with external industry partners, suppliers, and regulators
- Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve SMS performance, products, processes, or services
- Collaborate and support enterprise-wide communications related to creating a positive safety culture
- Integrate with the Flight Safety Teams to measure safety risk management (SRM) mitigation strategies and ensure objectives throughout the Enterprise are met
- Support internal SMS audits of safety processes
- Provide SME guidance for safety policies, procedures, safety risk assessments, hazard evaluations, risk correction/control, monitoring, safety assurance processes, training, and safety promotion across the Business in coordination with global GE Aerospace business activities and priorities
- Assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders
- Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, service provider, supplier, or field issues
- Communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters
- Communicate difficult concepts and may influence others’ options on particular topics
- Impact the team’s ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in an operations or technical discipline
- Experience in program management and organization
- Industry experience in Aerospace Safety Management Systems
- Experience interfacing with industry regulators (e.g. FAA, EASA)
- Master’s degree in science or engineering field from an accredited university or college
