Requirements
- A associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field with at least 4 years’ experience, with at least 1 year experience as a people manager or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.
- Proficiency with payroll software (Workday, ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Precision is crucial for ensuring the accuracy of payroll data.
- Comfort with numbers and calculations involved in payroll processing.
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to meet payroll deadlines.
- Understanding of relevant tax laws, employment regulations, and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Collect and verify employee timekeeping records
- Calculate and process payroll accurately and on time
- Review and resolve any discrepancies in payroll data
- Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management
- Analyze payroll data for trends and discrepancies
- Identify and resolve any payroll discrepancies or errors
- Create ad hoc reports as needed
- Provide insights and recommendations based on payroll data
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings
- Conduct internal audits to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Assist with external payroll audits
- Stay up to date on changes in payroll laws and regulations
- Maintain and update payroll system and software
- Test and troubleshoot system issues
- Identify and implement process improvements
- Train new employees on payroll processes and procedures
- Collaborate with IT and HR departments on system integrations and updates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) can be beneficial.
