Requirements
- 3-4 years of experience in employee benefits consulting or financial underwriting of group benefits.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with changing priorities.
- Willingness to obtain and maintain necessary licenses as per provincial regulations and Mercer policies.
- Quebec Residents: Proficiency in both English and French.
Responsibilities
- Validate and compare premiums for group benefit plans during vendor renewals, quotes, or benchmarking exercises.
- Produce quarterly experience monitoring reports for clients and analyze the impact of recent changes.
- Analyze financial statements of group insurance plans and tailor financial agreements to meet client needs.
- Review client utilization data to identify cost drivers and year-over-year trends, benchmarking against external data.
- Perform in-depth analyses for larger, complex clients, collaborating with Mercer subject matter experts as needed.
- Provide coaching and guidance to junior team members, ensuring quality and accuracy in deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
- A post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in mathematics, accounting, finance, economics, or statistics.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., insurance license, CEBS, CHRP) or working towards them.
- Familiarity with group insurance benefits through work experience or CEBS GBA designation.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
- Life License.
