Requirements

  • 3-4 years of experience in employee benefits consulting or financial underwriting of group benefits.
  • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with changing priorities.
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain necessary licenses as per provincial regulations and Mercer policies.
  • Quebec Residents: Proficiency in both English and French.

Responsibilities

  • Validate and compare premiums for group benefit plans during vendor renewals, quotes, or benchmarking exercises.
  • Produce quarterly experience monitoring reports for clients and analyze the impact of recent changes.
  • Analyze financial statements of group insurance plans and tailor financial agreements to meet client needs.
  • Review client utilization data to identify cost drivers and year-over-year trends, benchmarking against external data.
  • Perform in-depth analyses for larger, complex clients, collaborating with Mercer subject matter experts as needed.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to junior team members, ensuring quality and accuracy in deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in mathematics, accounting, finance, economics, or statistics.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., insurance license, CEBS, CHRP) or working towards them.
  • Familiarity with group insurance benefits through work experience or CEBS GBA designation.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
  • Life License.
