Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural/Civil Engineering
  • 5+ years in a Civil Engineering role
  • Experience on large highway, earthworks, bridge/structures, paving, and/or related projects.
  • Experience creating and/or modifying construction processes and procedures.
  • Strong understanding and interpretation of Engineering specifications and drawings
  • Strong analytical skillset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and construction engineering required to complete construction elements.
  • Participates in developing, maintaining, and revising the project schedule in conjunction with the Superintendents, Bridges Manager, and Scheduling Team.
  • Working with the Bridges team to perform daily hands-on management of projects while leading daily team activities to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget, with quality workmanship.
  • Assess resources required to complete Bridge Structures portion of the project.
  • Demonstrates, communicates, and reinforces all Company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure necessary permits, approvals, and other regulatory prerequisites are satisfied and in place.
  • Assist with the equipment utilization plan and ensure effective equipment implementation.
  • Monitoring productivity and job performance, including reviewing labor reports with project field supervisors.
  • Ensure work is carried out in compliance with the Project Agreement.
  • Ensure that subcontractor and supplier relationships are maintained.
  • Mentors and guides less experienced Project Engineers.
  • Prepares drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc.
  • Verifies work-in-place quantities for invoicing/pay quantities; verifies accurate payment of subcontractors and material suppliers.
  • Ensures timely receipt and review of submittals and shop drawings.
  • Assembles construction financial data; monitors costs; tracks costs for force accounts.
  • Ensures craft timecards are completed accurately, reflecting hours worked and tasks worked on; assigns cost codes to all purchases, timecards, contracts, equipment time and any other item involving cost.
  • Assists with constructability reviews and value engineering functions.
  • Assists in preparing project status reports and participates in project status meetings; assists in development of meeting minutes.
  • Other duties as assigned, or situation dictates.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience establishing strong working relationships with clients (i.e. State DOT) and stakeholders preferred.
