Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, or technical field (Software, Electronics, Information Systems, etc.) required, Master’s preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in product management or new product development
- Expert understanding of smart home industry landscape, consumer needs, and competitive positioning
- Experience with consumer electronic products or commercial electronic goods is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and communicate effectively with diverse range of internal and external audiences: customers, sales personnel, engineering, finance, executive leaderships, etc.
- Proven ability to translate complex customer and channel needs into thoughtful, well-organized product requirements and product roadmaps
- Proven strategic planning ability and track record of supporting profitable business growth.
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, integrate, and execute new solutions within a business
- Strong business and financial acumen (business cases, price positioning, product margin, commercialization strategy, channel management, etc.)
- Proven ability to utilize research in the development and execution of new product development, pricing, and strategic planning
- Ability to travel up to 30% required
Responsibilities
- Develop product strategy and manage product line(s) through research, market knowledge, and customer insights, identifying and evaluating current and future market opportunities and optimizing product line(s) to meet business objectives
- Manage the product life cycle for assigned product line(s) including new product development & innovation opportunities, sunsetting and other enhancements in line with Allegion Home’s strategy
- Develop strategy, gain alignment, and drive execution through collaboration and trusted partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
- Lead the development of business cases in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders that detail KPIs and/or financial expectations, market size, forecasts, investment, and commercialization strategy
- Gather & synthesizes sales, market, customer, competitive, and other data to use as inputs when developing or adjusting the product strategy and making decisions for their product line(s)
- Actively manage the performance of their product line(s) through financial metrics & KPIs; evaluates and determines actions to positively influence business performance
- Leads and influences using strong business and financial acumen with ability to translate data analysis into actionable opportunities
- Acts as go-to expert on their assigned product(s) within the organization; Has a working understanding of how the product is designed, built, and transacted
- Well-versed in industry/regulatory certifications and building codes that may apply to their portfolio
- Understands product application best practices (install, maintenance, support, etc.)
- Understands how the product line fits within the greater ecosystem of products it surrounds
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of markets, channels, consumer/customer needs, industry trends and go-to market strategy; consistently evaluating future market opportunities, threats, and internal business goals to adjust product strategy as needed
- Maintain close, trusting relationships with stakeholders. Inspiring, influencing, and aligning others toward shared goals
- Clearly and concisely communicate product information ensuring shared understanding throughout the organization
- Provide direction, mentorship, and/or coaching to others; may have direct management responsibility for early career talent
- Present product line updates, strategy, prioritization and related information to stakeholders, other departments, and internal or external customers displaying command, presence, and ownership
