Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Materials Science, Metallurgy, or equivalent program or equivalent experience
- Professional experience in foundry, metallurgy/met lab, or other manufacturing roles
- Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques
- Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy
- Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques
- Knowledge of successful approaches and techniques for dealing with change
- Knowledge of relationship management techniques
- Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics
- Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities
Responsibilities
- Provide ownership, support, and advancement of key metallurgical processes in the production of iron castings
- Perform data extraction/analysis, failure analysis and problem solving, application of simulation tools and methods, and practical application of theory and concepts
- Test products, analyze test data, and make modifications to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements
- Build, test, and modify metallurgical processes in the foundry and lab using working models and/or theoretical models
- Perform quality reviews and internal audits; evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards
- Monitor engineering processes and products for adherence to company and regulatory standards and practices; participate in quality improvement initiatives and projects
- Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product
- Recommend modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality
