Requirements
- High school graduate or possess the G.E.D.
- At least one year of experience as an instrument processor or Surgical Technologist.
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification issued through International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification issued through The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) required upon hire, or must obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, sterilize, install, assemble, and clean all clinic or healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures.
- Ensure equipment, instruments, and supplies can be reused safely to prevent infections.
- Serve as a clinical liaison between the Operating Rooms and the CSS offsite location to track and allocate sterilized instrumentation across the Enterprise.
- Coordinate and oversee daily activities between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Departments to facilitate efficient case flow.
- Assist in projects and process improvement.
- Promote customer service and patient satisfaction through effective communication with Operating Room clinical operations and multiple sterile processing departments across the Medical Center.
- Order, procure, and organize instrument trays on a global level to service the entire Enterprise.
