Requirements

  • Ph.D. In Civil Engineering or Related Field.
  • Knowledge of environmental economics, finance, or both.
  • Valuation of ecosystem co-benefits.
  • Work with diverse and large datasets using programming languages such as R, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Proven track record of publications in high-quality journals.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced research in environmental economics and finance applied to coastal green and gray infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement economic models to analyze the financial implications of green and gray coastal infrastructure and the economic valuation of ecosystem services.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate economic and financial perspectives into broader environmental science and engineering projects.
  • Apply quantitative methods to assess the economic, social, and flood risk impacts of green and gray coastal infrastructure.
  • Utilize programming languages (such as MATLAB, Python, and R) to analyze datasets and develop computational models.
  • Prepare research findings for publication in high-impact scientific journals and present at conferences.
  • Present at stakeholder engagement meetings and incorporate stakeholder feedback into research.
  • Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and graduate students within the department and across relevant disciplines.
  • Establish connections with external partners, stakeholders, and industry professionals to enhance the impact and relevance of the research.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D In Civil Engineering.
  • 1-4 Years of Experience.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in working with flood/hydrodynamic models.
  • Experience with flood hazard and risk models such as FEMA’s HAZUS.
