The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role is a discipline that incorporates aspects of software engineering and applies them to infrastructure and operations problems. It aims to create scalable and highly reliable software systems. Here are some key aspects of the SRE role

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Sunrise, FL / Phoenix, AZ is $105k – $110k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Service Reliability: Ensure that services are reliable and available, often measured against Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Incident Management: Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitoring and Metrics: Develop and maintain monitoring systems to track performance and health of services, using metrics to improve reliability.
  • Automation: Automate manual processes to improve efficiency, reduce human error, and enhance system reliability.
  • Capacity Planning: Analyze current system usage and predict future needs to ensure that systems can handle expected loads.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to ensure that new features and services are reliable and maintainable.
  • Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in systems.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation related to system architecture, processes, and incident management.

Requirements:

You are:

  • Looking for 8+ years candidate
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or Ruby.
  • Systems Knowledge: Strong understanding of operating systems, networking, and cloud platforms.
  • DevOps Practices: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
  • Monitoring Tools: Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, or Datadog.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Tools Commonly Used by SREs:

  • Source Control: Git, GitHub, GitLab.
  • CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, CircleCI, Travis CI.
  • Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Cloud Providers: AWS, Google Cloud, Azure.
