Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) upon hire
- Active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee upon hire
- Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within six months
- Understanding of algebraic calculations for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
Responsibilities
- Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding
- Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner
- Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections
- Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
- Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training
- Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks
- Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
- Six month of hospital experience
