Requirements

  • 12+ years in global PR and brand communications, ideally in beauty, lifestyle, or CPG.
  • Proven earned media leader with global execution experience and a sharp, culturally attuned POV.
  • Executive presence with comfort advising C-level leaders and managing cross-functional inputs.
  • A storyteller and strategist in equal parts—fluent in brand, product, and corporate comms.
  • Must write with precision and power. No filler, no fluff, no overwriting. You know what words mean and how to use them to persuade, excite, and cut through the noise.
  • Brings strong, active relationships with top-tier editors across beauty, lifestyle, business, and cultural verticals and knows how to pick up the phone and make things happen fast. You’ve earned trust, and you deliver stories that land.
  • This is not an influencer role. We’re looking for someone fluent in editorial strategy, cultural storytelling, corporate communications, and strategic media—who understands how earned drives brand equity and relevance today.
  • Based in NYC with ability to travel globally as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and evolve the global PR strategy across brand, product, seasonal, cultural, business, and leadership pillars.
  • Develop regionally adaptable messaging frameworks and press-ready assets that anchor every earned moment.
  • Package comprehensive toolkits for each key moment, including press releases, asset packs, pitch angles, Q&As, and product fact sheets.
  • Build and manage a rolling editorial calendar with seasonal arcs, cultural hooks, and launch moments to guide global execution.
  • Lead storytelling grounded in universal emotional and societal insights, identifying narratives Sol de Janeiro can uniquely own.
  • Concept and guide big idea seeding and press mailers that are editorial-first, aligned to global brand moments, and creatively differentiated.
  • Operate as a core amplifier of the brand strategy, not a support function. Ensure PR is integrated into 360 planning from the start.
  • Champion shared context and upstream collaboration across teams to ensure timely, aligned, and high-impact execution.
  • Shape the external narrative for CEO and key leaders, including profile development, award strategy, and speaking platforms.
  • Own brand hygiene and consistency across public-facing platforms (Wikipedia, LinkedIn, bios).
  • Guide business press targeting and ensure strategic presence in leadership media.
  • Ensure consistency in tone, messaging, quality, and timing across all regions and major moments.
  • Collaborate with internal communications to ensure alignment of external storytelling with internal culture-building and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Serve as the final editorial eye for high-impact communications globally.
  • Partner with regional teams (Americas, EMEA, LATAM, APAC) to align toolkit use, mailer execution, press outreach, and reporting.
  • Lead global crisis and issues communications in partnership with internal teams, with real-time holding statements, escalation protocols, and press response strategies to protect brand reputation.
  • Serve as the senior-most PR lead supporting the Americas region, providing strategic guidance and subject matter expertise.
  • Manage and mentor the Americas PR lead (with a dotted line to Americas Marketing) responsible for day-to-day consumer media execution in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Ensure regional pitching, mailers, and press events reflect global strategy, deliver impact, and maintain creative excellence.
  • Review coverage performance and editor feedback regularly, driving continuous improvement in earned media results.
