Requirements

  • Possess a valid Oregon driver license and ability to obtain a Commercial drivers license class B within 90 days of being hired.
  • Knowledge and routine compliance with safe practices for the disposal of oil lubricants, filters and other discarded substances and parts.
  • Familiarity, skill, and dexterity to use tools required to perform routine service work, tire inspection and replacement, and light maintenance, including both electric and air driven hand tools and light mechanical tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers.
  • Knowledge and skill in the effective and safe use of welding equipment for the repair of minor structural damage to vehicles and equipment.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to all requirements for safe operation including the use of personal protective equipment such as leather work boots, eye protection, hearing protection, protective equipment and protective clothing.
  • Reading, writing, and verbal skills required to read and understand manuals and work instructions, respond to written and oral instructions, and to provide written documentation and to exchange information.
  • Skills of basic mathematics to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
  • Attention skill needed to ensure accuracy of records and reports.
  • Able to routinely lift and move heavy objects.
  • Mobility to routinely move under trucks, bend, lift, and get into tight working areas.
  • Punctual and reliable in work attendance and job performance.
  • Able to work independent of immediate supervision, thus be self-motivated and able to organize work schedule.
  • Aptitude and ability to learn additional knowledge and skills required for assisting mechanics in routine maintenance and repair tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and repairs vehicles with diesel engines.
  • Handles routine repairs, including but not limited to routine preventative maintenance, repairing engines, chassis, body components, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspension systems, cooling systems, oil and tire changes along, with minor and major repairs from A/C, hydraulics, electrical, welding, engine replacement, transmissions, etc.
  • Inspects equipment and/or trucks for condition, operations, parts and fluid levels, differentials, final drives, pump drives, and hubs.
  • Knowledge of Hydraulics repair is a plus!
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Performs maintenance related work as required.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Performs required safety protocols while working on vehicles.
  • Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Hydraulics repair is a plus!
