Senior Staff Mechanical Architect

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 12+ years of industry experience
Experience leading design work for complex mechanical and fluid systems
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD, ideally Solidworks)
Proficiency in FEA or CFD is a plus
Proficient in design for mass manufacturing and assembly (DFMA)
Hands-on experience with prototyping techniques and working in a machine shop environment
Familiarity with mechanical verification testing

Create white-page designs that will be the foundation of Form Energy’s future product
Work with cross-functional engineering teams to develop system level architectural & interface diagrams, FMEA, mass rollups, cost estimates, assembly process flows
Iterate on initial design concepts with feedback from simulation, prototype validation, and field learnings
Select and size key elements of our sub-systems (structural, thermal, fluid, etc.)
Identify and implement enabling technologies and suppliers to advance development of our batteries
Perform hands-on prototyping of designs and collaborate with design teams to build integrated prototypes
Work with consulting companies, vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to implementation ready state
Run and analyze trials to inform specs and future design direction
Drive verification testing of your design work
