Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Bachelor’s with 10+ years, or Master’s with 8+ industry experience in mechanical design
- Experience leading design work for complex mechanical systems
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), specifically SolidWorks modeling and drafting
- Proficient in component design for mass manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), especially sheet metal, stampings, weldments and extruded components
- Proficient with prototyping techniques and working in a machine shop environment
- Familiarity with mechanical verification testing
Responsibilities
- Create white-page designs that will be the foundation of Form Energy’s Gen 2 product enclosure and module designs
- Perform hands-on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated prototypes
- Work with consulting companies, vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high volume production
- Run and analyze trials to inform specs and future design direction
- Release designs consistent with company and team best practices (drawings, tolerance analysis, etc)
- Drive verification testing of your design work
- Perform failure root cause analysis on systems and assemblies
- Travel 1 week a month to other Form Energy offices or vendor sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems, power electronics, or batteries is a plus
