Requirements
- Medical Assistant Certification through a national credentialing body required
- Must be a High School Graduate/GED equivalent
- Successful interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
- Knowledge of computers, keyboard, e-mail programs and the use of web-based applications
- Basic understanding of rules, regulations and retrieval of insurance information
Responsibilities
- Administers injections
- Completes vital signs and drug screens as well as submits billing
- Completes and coordinates specialty clinics
- Maintain linkage with pharmacies to facilitate refills or prior authorizations
- Works with internal staff to ensure continuity of care
- Triages medication and care related calls and coordinates physician or nurse involvement
- Stocks offices
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one-year experience in a health care environment preferred
- Formal training as a medical assistant preferred
