Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in digital public relations or outreach.
  • Experience working with Research and/or Editorial teams to create newsworthy content.
  • Experience pitching to local media.
  • Proficient with Media Monitoring software, such as Cision, Meltwater, Muckrack, or something similar.
  • Experience and strong ability to work cross-functionally across teams within an organization.
  • Strong understanding of how outreach supports SEO success.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication, both written and verbal, and ability to lead meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the local media outreach strategy, resulting in increased domain authority and traffic to GOBankingRates.com.
  • Lead weekly competitor monitoring and use insights to establish a larger share of voice on key personal finance topics.
  • Lead our media monitoring efforts with data tracking software such as Cision, Google Analytics, and Tableau.
  • Contributing to the quality of our original research and survey program by collaborating across multiple teams, including Editorial, Research, Product, and Design.
  • Partner with the SEO team to build backlink strategies that achieve our goals for domain authority and topical authority across key financial categories.
  • Help secure backlinks from non-media external key partners, such as banks and other financial institutions.
  • Prepare regular reports on backlink health and earned traffic.
  • Respond to media inquiries, coordinate interviews, and provide support with press releases when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Established relationships with local media.
  • Proven track record (1+ yr) of leveraging original research to achieve results.
  • Experience working with an editorial team at a digital media brand, digital media agency, or in a newsroom.
  • Background or passion for personal finance.
