Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a paralegal role (in-house experience preferred)
  • An associate degree in paralegal studies or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to draft professional correspondence and superior proofreading skills
  • Ability to effectively work in an environment exposed to confidential information and documents
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to be assertive and persistent while maintaining a professional manner
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Suite (G-Drive; Gmail), Excel, Word, Access, SimpleLegal, and Adobe Acrobat

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and investigations to gather facts and supporting documentation for demand letters, litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters
  • Coordinate discovery responses, including collecting and organizing documents and data, tracking deadlines, and preparing and scheduling witnesses for interviews, depositions, and trials
  • Prepare, manage, and track legal holds
  • Collaborate with IT and operations teams to ensure proper preservation of electronic and hard copy records
  • Maintain litigation databases and case management systems; track and calendar litigation events and other critical legal deadlines
  • Assist with quarterly litigation reports
  • Monitor and track insured litigation matters
  • Serve as a liaison between operations and legal counsel, addressing day-to-day legal questions and facilitating information flow
  • Prepare, file, and manage certain customer claims and small claims matters, including drafting documentation, coordinating evidence, and advising internal stakeholders on procedures and timelines
  • Assist with internal investigations and prepare employees who are subpoenaed or called to testify
  • Provide high-level support for litigation and arbitration matters as needed, including coordinating logistics, managing external counsel requests, and supporting settlement processes
  • Assist with regulatory compliance and responses to government inquiries or subpoenas
  • Draft routine legal correspondence and support contract-related administrative tasks (e.g., contract tracking, signature management, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • An associate degree in paralegal studies or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Understanding of corporate law and litigation, and experience in the litigation process
  • Demonstrated experience using judgment to plan and accomplish goals and resolve routine legal issues
