Requirements
- Associate degree in engineering or construction with 4+ years of building automation systems experience OR 2+ years’ of HVAC controls industry experience.
Responsibilities
- Design of complete building automation systems, including the specification and sizing of controllers, electromechanical devices, sensors, networks, and computer hardware.
- Creation, where necessary, of sequences of operation for the control of common building systems.
- Documentation of the BAS design (i.e. submittals) and revision control of the resultant documents.
- Site-specific configuration of the WebCTRL system (using SiteBuilder).
- Programming of control algorithms including those that include third-party integration (using Eikon).
- Development of graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems (using Eikon and ViewBuilder).
- Testing of programming and interfaces prior to deployment.
- Support of functional testing (commissioning) for building systems.
- Final documentation of the building automation system that incorporates all changes made since issuance of the submittal.
- Adherence to project requirements and company and customer standards in all aspects of design, programming, and implementation.
- Technical support during the selling process to ensure that sales representatives accurately address customer requirements and propose the best possible solutions.
- Identification and communication of project opportunities and risks related to cost, time, and technical considerations.
- Timely creation of requests for information (RFIs).
- Clear communication and proactive expectation setting with manager and project teams both internal and external.
- Adherence to safety standards. High regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
- Adherence to ethics standards. Exemplifies the Carrier code of ethics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or construction discipline with 2+ years of building automation systems experience
- Competency with Microsoft software including Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Understands electrical and mechanical building systems.
- Capable of designing and programming most projects executed by Automated Logic.
- Able to interpret plans (including architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints), specifications, and contract documents to deliver compliant but optimized designs.
- Able to accurately and effectively request clarifications to technical or scope information via a formal RFI process.
- Competent verbal and written communicator, able to translate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Able to balance multiple concurrent priorities.
- Able to condense technical information into a comprehensive and clear set of design documents in a way that is easily understood and followed by project teams.
- Proficient with primary functions of BAS software and associated engineering tools (Automated Logic suite preferred).
- Familiarity with third-party communication protocols used in building automation (e.g. BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2, etc.). Able to design integrations with the same.
- Aptitude for problem solving even when troubleshooting remotely.
- Basic time management skills including the ability to accurately estimate time required to complete tasks and deliver on the committed timeline.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Possess and maintain valid and current form of government issued identification.
- Ability to report to assigned work location reliably.
- Willingness and ability to travel 20% of average workweek, including air travel, overnight hotel stays, and unexpected travel when required.
