Requirements

  • Associate degree in engineering or construction with 4+ years of building automation systems experience OR 2+ years’ of HVAC controls industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design of complete building automation systems, including the specification and sizing of controllers, electromechanical devices, sensors, networks, and computer hardware.
  • Creation, where necessary, of sequences of operation for the control of common building systems.
  • Documentation of the BAS design (i.e. submittals) and revision control of the resultant documents.
  • Site-specific configuration of the WebCTRL system (using SiteBuilder).
  • Programming of control algorithms including those that include third-party integration (using Eikon).
  • Development of graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems (using Eikon and ViewBuilder).
  • Testing of programming and interfaces prior to deployment.
  • Support of functional testing (commissioning) for building systems.
  • Final documentation of the building automation system that incorporates all changes made since issuance of the submittal.
  • Adherence to project requirements and company and customer standards in all aspects of design, programming, and implementation.
  • Technical support during the selling process to ensure that sales representatives accurately address customer requirements and propose the best possible solutions.
  • Identification and communication of project opportunities and risks related to cost, time, and technical considerations.
  • Timely creation of requests for information (RFIs).
  • Clear communication and proactive expectation setting with manager and project teams both internal and external.
  • Adherence to safety standards. High regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Adherence to ethics standards. Exemplifies the Carrier code of ethics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or construction discipline with 2+ years of building automation systems experience
  • Competency with Microsoft software including Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Understands electrical and mechanical building systems.
  • Capable of designing and programming most projects executed by Automated Logic.
  • Able to interpret plans (including architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints), specifications, and contract documents to deliver compliant but optimized designs.
  • Able to accurately and effectively request clarifications to technical or scope information via a formal RFI process.
  • Competent verbal and written communicator, able to translate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Able to balance multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Able to condense technical information into a comprehensive and clear set of design documents in a way that is easily understood and followed by project teams.
  • Proficient with primary functions of BAS software and associated engineering tools (Automated Logic suite preferred).
  • Familiarity with third-party communication protocols used in building automation (e.g. BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2, etc.). Able to design integrations with the same.
  • Aptitude for problem solving even when troubleshooting remotely.
  • Basic time management skills including the ability to accurately estimate time required to complete tasks and deliver on the committed timeline.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Possess and maintain valid and current form of government issued identification.
  • Ability to report to assigned work location reliably.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 20% of average workweek, including air travel, overnight hotel stays, and unexpected travel when required.
