Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- For DSP 2 positions, at least 1-2 years work experience in the I/DD field.
- Valid NY State Driver’s License is a plus.
- Tuberculosis test is mandatory for most positions.
Responsibilities
- To provide direct care services as needed, including counseling, training in ADLs, and assistance with personal care.
- Ensure the health, safety, and wellness of the people we support.
- Actively carry out a progressive teaching style to measure accuracy, fluency, and competency on established individualized goals.
- Maintain a conducive learning environment through various methods such as Personal Outcome Measures and Person Centered Thinking.
- Complete thorough and timely monthly documentation to ensure regulatory compliance and meet billing deadlines.
- Provide timely services in accordance with everyone’s set schedule to ensure consistency and respect for each person receiving services.
- Responsible for the implementation of the day program plans, opportunities for self-determination, independent activity, increased productivity, and greater community inclusion.
- Collect, record, and report on data for all written program plans as assigned, and write case notes and provide information on incidents as required.
- Demonstrate a high level of communication skill through articulate written and verbal modes.
- Complete mandatory trainings based on the program and position, and apply the learned skills.
- Ensure appropriate supervision of the people we support and the program, and understand when to contact an administrator for support.
- Escort people on recreational activities, volunteer sites, and various other community events and/or functions.
- Assist people with making purchases and safeguard personal allowance funds and any additional funds.
- Take on additional tasks outside of basic DSP work/completing job-related tasks as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Work or life experience in the I/DD field is a plus, but not mandatory for DSP 1 positions.
