Requirements

  • 5 years experience serving an established Legal organization in a support capacity.
  • Based on jurisdiction, may need to obtain and maintain a notary license.
  • Experience in management, specifically in the legal field.
  • Has reviewed invoices to ensure compliance with the Company’s Expense Policy and handles in accordance with established procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and/or approve job applicants for employment.
  • Conducts and/or reviews associate performance appraisals.
  • Selects candidates and submits hiring decisions for management approval.
  • Initiates and recommends salary adjustments, performance ratings, and other personnel changes.
  • Coaches and counsels associates and takes disciplinary action or terminates the employment of associates as appropriate.
  • Responsible for managing associates who fulfill support responsibilities for the Legal organization whose duties, among other things, may include: Scheduling court, arbitration, and/or EUO assignments, Handling incoming and outgoing mail; entering data into the appropriate business systems, Drafting, generating and typing legal pleadings, motions, interrogatories, notices to admit, expert witness disclosures, discovery demands and responses, legal correspondence and other legal documents, Reviewing and processing court decisions.
  • Audits work and processes for accuracy and quality.
  • Coaches and coordinates the training of associates.
  • Recommends and revises training manuals as necessary.
  • Institutes new procedures when authorized.
  • Writes, updates, or enforces work procedures.
  • Investigates, resolves, and/or supervises implementation of changes, if any, to daily work issues.
  • Reviews file contents and coordinates the completion of discovery including the signature of the client for filing.
  • Interacts with Judges, court clerks, plaintiff’s attorneys, clients, partners, stakeholders, and other business units to schedule events and resolve problems.
  • Performs legal research and assists with special projects, as requested.
  • May serve as liaison for the office and provide assistance as needed in the use and implementation and improvement of Department systems and software.
  • Assists in preparation of departmental plans and budgets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Has experience in personal injury litigation
  • Experience in the auto insurance industry
