Requirements

  • BS with 5+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years of relevant academic or industry experience.
  • Expertise in neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory disease and experience with cell- and animal-based disease models.
  • A track record of publications in neurodegenerative disease, neuroimmunology, immunology, and/or related areas.
  • Extensive experience with both in vivo and in vitro models and tools preferred.
  • Highly organized, collaborative, and effective working on teams.
  • Understanding of in vivo pharmacology and/or molecule biodistribution in rodents or NHPs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to identify and execute key steps necessary to advance projects.
  • Ability to effectively develop and discuss experimental goals and research progress with scientists and stakeholders of varied backgrounds.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Run animal studies to assess compound pharmacokinetics using different administration approaches including subcutaneous, intravenous, and surgical ICV dosing.
  • Validate in vivo mouse models of neurodegeneration to measure target engagement and tease apart disease mechanisms.
  • Establish new animal protocols, manage AUPs, and coordinate studies in compliance with in vivo best practices.
  • Establish primary, immortalized, and/or iPSC-based cell cultures to test compounds or model neuroinflammatory mechanisms.
  • Measure compound exposure and changes in neuroinflammatory pathways in the CNS using ELISA or other similar approaches.
  • Provide support for externally run studies by communicating with vendors and collaborators.
  • Help design and execute experiments, analyze data, and clearly communicate results at internal and external meetings.
  • Interact in a matrixed, dynamic and cross-functional manner across the Rare and Neuroscience Therapeutic Area and research platforms.
  • Help guide new drug candidates from the early exploratory discovery stage to the clinic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with both in vivo and in vitro models and tools preferred.
