Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety or related Field
  • Minimum 5-7 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experienced with Safety Management Systems (I.E. ISO 45001)
  • Experience working with DEQ, OSHA, and other governmental organizations
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing plant regulatory requirements

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for maintaining compliance with all Federal, State, Local and GE Best Practice EHS regulations, standards and management systems
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership of site performance in meeting EHS goals and objectives
  • Lead continuous improvement of EHS performance including OSHA & LTA reductions, emergency preparedness, site work plans, job safety analysis, ergonomics and process change management
  • Lead employee safety team, coordinate training, perform audits and maintain EHS related records
  • Provide timely reports to GE corporate EHS staff, site management
  • Responsibilities also include integration of EHS standards applicable to new and existing equipment and processes, and to support facilities related operations
  • Leader and champion of the Richmond Service Center for Environmental Health and Safety responsible and accountable for establishing a safe and healthy workplace for RSC employees
  • Increase the safety awareness of the RSC through timely education of safety principles
  • Reduce safety risks by early identification and elimination before incidents occur
  • Concern reporting
  • Near miss reporting
  • Establishing safety risk ratings for each operation
  • Expansion and effective use of LOTO process
  • Process audits (LPR, etc.)
  • Hazard hunts
  • Education and use of POWRA
  • Champion RCA and Corrective Actions when safety incidents occur
  • Track, monitor and escalate non-addressed corrective actions
  • Train the Richmond team on EHS concepts and principles
  • Lead the vision/strategy for safety improvements
  • Develop & maintain heat map for the RSC – identify areas that have highest risks; establish countermeasures
