Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management field and/or office experience equivalency
- 7-10+ years relevant experience
- Extensive knowledge of AccuBid, On‐Screen Take‐off, and similar software for take‐offs and estimate pricing for electrical systems construction
- Supportive computer skills for varied formats such as basic Windows applications plus pdf’s, TEAMS, Zoom, etc.
- Ability to present estimating deliverables to management and explain advantages in utilizing one contractor over another, scope gaps, cost swings, etc.
- Ability to conceptually estimate projects with limited information
- Ability to estimate multiple facility types such as hospitals, hangars, office structures, specialized mission structures, base improvements, renovations, and additions
- Ability to maintain healthy working relationships with industry partners (Owners, designers, subcontractors, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Reads plans and specifications and understand the requirements of the RFP focusing on electrical systems (high and medium voltage), switchgear, fixtures and devices, temporary power requirements, power distribution, Telecomm, Electronic safety and security, and other related specification sections
- Analyzes, quantifies, and provides cost estimates for the electrical scope of work inclusive of Gilbane’s General Requirements
- Develops accurate labor crews, crew productivity and provides input for project schedule
- Advises designers, in design-build projects, on solution with the lowest initial cost to meet the RFP
- Writes effective RFI’s
- Creates and coordinates comprehensive bid packages
- Identifies and engages with electrical subcontractors throughout the bidding process
- Creates and distributes the electrical bid scope of work checklist
- Collects, analyzes, and compares competitive subcontract and supplier bids
- Develops and recommends appropriate risk register values for this scope of work
- Tracks and reports on current material and labor prices, including escalation
- Tracks and reports on current material and equipment to identity long-lead items
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Federal construction programs and markets is desired but not required
- Lump Sum Bidding
