Lazard Geopolitical Advisory (LGA) delivers sector specific, market-relevant geopolitical insights to help Lazard’s corporate clients identify opportunities and risks in a rapidly changing global environment. It provides bespoke advice on how geopolitical trends and developments translate into impact on a client’s business, and how they may affect its operations, earnings, and strategy. LGA represents a unique fusion of world-class geopolitical knowledge and expertise with business and financial intelligence.
The Geopolitical Advisory group is based in the Austin, Texas office and leads coverage for LGA clients across the U.S and globally. Lazard is differentiated among the leading investment banks in our history of investing in Summer Analysts and developing their skillsets. The firm provides Summer Analysts hands-on opportunities to learn more about the geopolitical advisory sector and other parts of Lazard’s business over the course of their career.
The Geopolitical Advisory Summer Analyst position offers an unparalleled opportunity to work as part of small team on developing geopolitical insights for Lazard and its clients, working hand-in-hand with investment banking coverage teams and Lazard’s data science and analytics group. It will provide exposure to the breadth of the Lazard organization, platform, and clients. It will also provide access to and mentorship from leading geopolitical experts, including Admiral William McRaven, General John Abizaid, Jami Miscik, Sir Stephen Lovegrove, and other senior leaders.
A Geopolitical Advisory Summer Analyst works on a variety of client projects and across international economic and political issues. Deep geopolitical expertise with a generalist orientation is a must, as is the ability to autonomously put together differentiated research and presentations and integrate financial and economic insights into geopolitical analysis. An inclination to engage in a wide range of topics within current affairs, finance, and economics, as well as the ability to collaborate closely with colleagues are key traits of a successful Geopolitical Advisory Summer Analyst.
You’ll need to have:
- Current enrollment at a postgraduate program (i.e., Master’s and / or PhD program) with a graduation date of Spring 2026
- Undergraduates enrolled in a joint undergraduate and master’s program (i.e., a 4+1 program) with a graduate date of Spring 2026 are welcome to apply
- Top academic performance with demonstrated writing and research skills
- Motivation, creativity, maturity, poise, and ability to work as a team player
- Comfort operating in an unstructured environment
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task
- Quantitative analysis skills are a plus
- Foreign language capabilities are a plus
- Experience working in government, academia, think tanks, professional services, or financial services on issues of geopolitics and international policy is a strong plus

We expect the base salary for this role to be approximately $120,000 USD. Various factors contribute to determining the actual base compensation offered, including but not limited to the applicant’s years of relevant experience, career tenure, qualifications, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, relevant skills for the role, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
