Requirements
- 5+ years of professional accounting experience and a bachelor’s degree in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA preferred
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and a strong understanding of internal controls
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly to various stakeholders
- Self-starter with demonstrated history of ownership and accountability
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a capacity to identify issues and implement effective solutions
- Team player with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with revenue recognition and inventory cost accounting
Responsibilities
- Execute month-end close and reconciliation processes to ensure timely, accurate financial data in compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies
- Design and maintain internal controls over financial reporting to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information
- Develop and uphold accounting policies and procedures that align with best practices and regulatory requirements
- Manage and oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, payroll, billings/receivables, revenue recognition, lease accounting, inventory and fixed asset accounting
- Manage supplier and customer onboarding processes
- Understand and implement government rate structures based on Federal Acquisition Regulations
- Oversee accounting and reporting of government contract costs and revenues
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local sales tax filings
- Lead the development, recruitment, mentoring, and training of team members to enhance skills and performance
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations
- Support the finance team in developing accurate financial forecasts and analysis of budget vs. actual variances
- Partner with and provide excellent service to other internal teams/departments to save them time and energy
- Maintain existing financial systems and implement new financial systems as the company scales
- Proactively identify areas for process improvement and implement changes as appropriate
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in maintaining and implementing an ERP system highly desirable
