Requirements
- 1–2+ years of direct experience with Metrc in a regulated cannabis facility.
- Background in cultivation, post-harvest, lab testing coordination, or production preferred.
- Experience in compliance, QA/QC, or inventory auditing is a plus.
- Deep understanding of seed-to-sale tracking and Metrc functionality.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze and reconcile inventory data across systems.
- Clear, confident communication skills for cross-departmental coordination and training.
- Self-starter who can manage independent tasks while supporting team operations.
- Ability to lift and move product batches as needed (per facility standards).
- Must pass all background checks required by state and company regulations.
- Flexible availability based on testing schedules, operational needs, or system updates.
Responsibilities
- Perform all cultivation functions in Metrc: plant creation, tag assignment, growth stage transitions, harvest logging, and cultivation waste.
- Maintain complete and accurate cultivation inventory and reconcile discrepancies between Metrc and internal records.
- Monitor all immature and flowering plant movements and ensure correct entry of transfer and destruction data.
- Harvest plants in Metrc, create batches, assign batch IDs, and record wet/dry weights accurately.
- Track conversions into bulk inventory types (e.g., flower, trim, shake, waste).
- Ensure smooth product handoff from post-harvest to processing and that all transfers and transformations are properly tracked in Metrc.
- Prepare and manage all test batches for compliance testing in Metrc.
- Coordinate with third-party labs on test scheduling, sample submissions, and chain-of-custody documentation.
- Ensure proper sample collection, labeling, handling, and submission in compliance with regulations.
- Dispose of failed batches according to regulatory and internal SOPs.
- Monitor and oversee Metrc actions performed by production and operations staff.
- Provide guidance, troubleshooting, and support when issues arise — stepping in when needed for coverage or corrections.
- Ensure proper Metrc documentation for all packaging, pre-roll, and finished product processes.
- Train production staff on best practices for Metrc compliance and entries.
- Manage the intake, tagging, and entry of bulk clones into Metrc.
- Ensure accurate inventory creation and monitor clone movements between rooms or phases.
- Execute and document all cannabis waste actions across cultivation, post-harvest, production, and packaging.
- Collaborate with the Cultivation Department Head to coordinate waste hauler pickups.
- Ensure all waste is rendered unusable/unrecognizable and recorded properly in Metrc with accurate weights and timestamps.
- Maintain complete, organized logs of all waste entries for audit readiness.
- Audit Metrc data regularly across departments to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Identify and resolve entry discrepancies or Metrc issues by working with department supervisors and compliance staff.
- Serve as the go-to Metrc expert for the facility, offering ongoing training, process improvement input, and compliance guidance.
- Generate reports from Metrc for internal reviews, inventory audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Stay up to date on Metrc system changes and California cannabis regulations and communicate relevant updates to the team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in cultivation, post-harvest, lab testing coordination, or production preferred.
- Experience in compliance, QA/QC, or inventory auditing is a plus.
