Requirements

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in health care or related field Preferred
  • Two years’ Admissions experience preferred
  • LPN or RN license preferred, but not required
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Suite products

Responsibilities

  • Manage the admissions process efficiently to ensure a positive experience for residents, families and supporting staff
  • Plan, direct and monitor the daily operations of the Admissions Department to ensure that budgeted resident census goals are met
  • Admit Patients to the health care facility
  • Screen patients by comparing patients’ condition to admission criteria
  • Complete admission and financial responsibility forms
  • Work collaboratively with leaders of other facility departments to ensure timely communication of appropriate information
  • Confirm that all insurance benefit coverage meets standards of admissions
  • Coordinate and arrange physical, social, emotional and support services requirements, including transportation
  • Obtain applicant information by requesting completed applications and medical information; verifying and clarifying information; interviewing patients and family members; explaining admission criteria
  • Maintain comprehensive understanding of facility services that can be provided to prospective residents and educate referral sources as appropriate
  • Oversee the patients bed assignments and completion of preliminary paperwork for admissions
  • Complete additional facility specific ongoing tasks and projects as assigned by immediate supervisor
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility
  • Complete resident intake process
  • Coordinate with Director of Nursing and/or Case Manager to assure appropriateness of facility admissions
  • Maintain and communicate accurate record of bed availability
  • Work to initiate, nurture and maintain contacts with physicians, social workers, and discharge planners as valued customers to maximize referrals and facilitate admissions
  • Attend daily stand up meetings
  • Assist in planning and execution of outreach events such as on site facility health fairs, educational programs, and other promotional events designed to attract hospital discharge planners, physicians, and other key persons to the facility
