Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills and service orientation
- Demonstrated organizational skills and proven ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications including database management, presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing software
- Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color
- Experience working with diversity, equity, inclusion, and wellbeing programs
- Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and wellbeing
- Ability to serve as an advocate for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members
Responsibilities
- Provide academic, personal, and financial counseling to students utilizing the services offered by OADI, primarily supporting students enrolled in the EOP/HEOP programs, but also for other OADI constituencies
- Communicate with and advise prospective students and families throughout the admissions process with special attention at supporting EOP/HEOP process
- Assist with recruitment and provide information about EOP/HEOP guidelines and institutional policies and procedures to prospective students, parents, the Cornell community, and guidance counselors through virtual and in-person recruiting travel
- Advise enrolled students and prospective applicants and families on matters pertaining to financial aid
- Provide programming and programmatic support for all OADI students and initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree with at least 2 years of experience in counseling in an educational or related field
- Prior experience with diverse populations and particularly with opportunity program students
- Experience in student programming and conducting workshops
- Ability to speak multiple languages
