AI Engineer – Back End

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of professional work experience post-undergrad developing large-scale machine learning/GenAI applications in a back-end focused role within a production environment is required
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable business strategies for bankers, investors, and other stakeholders
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Passion for building innovative, high-quality AI-driven products
• Deep knowledge of machine learning algorithms and experience in productionizing AI models
• Proficiency with frameworks for large language models (LLMs) such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, and VectorDBs
• Experience developing and deploying AI solutions using cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Advanced knowledge of unstructured data processing, including NLP techniques (e.g., sentiment analysis, entity recognition, topic modeling, and retrieval-augmented generation)
• Experience working with AI Foundry and AI Search, leveraging advanced AI capabilities for data processing and retrieval
• Experience with agentic workflows to build intelligent, autonomous systems
• Proficiency in APIs and microservices frameworks like FastAPI or Flask
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for managing containerized applications and ensuring scalable deployments
• Strong expertise in ETL processes like Prefect or Airflow for efficient data pipeline orchestration and workflow automation
• Proficiency in AWS and API Management (APIM) to ensure seamless cloud operations and secure API integrations
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ElasticSearch) for data querying and analysis
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field
• US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required
• Ability to work in the office in 30 Rock (our NY Headquarters) at least 3 days each week

Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale AI and machine learning projects that deliver actionable insights and drive innovation
• Collaborate closely with investment bankers, portfolio managers, research analysts, data scientists, software engineers, and senior management across the Firm to deliver impactful solutions
• Demonstrate passion and interest in cutting-edge AI technologies
• Be a curious problem-solver that can spot gaps and opportunities to improve our business with a strong focus on cloud-native solutions, generative AI, natural language processing, and predictive analytics
• Couple your advanced technical and domain expertise with ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in the financial industry or a strong interest in finance
• Familiar with Databricks, Azure AI and Microsoft Copilot ecosystem
• Expertise in Python and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn
• Expertise in building advanced retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems and developing autonomous LLM agent workflows
• Familiarity with Data Fabric is a plus, enhancing data connectivity and accessibility across distributed environments
• Experience with real-time AI applications and stream processing frameworks
• Demonstrated success in delivering AI solutions with measurable business impact
