Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in business development, program management, or sales, with a focus on U.S. Air Force programs or the aerospace/defense sector.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. Air Force organizational structure, mission requirements, and procurement processes.
  • Proven ability to win and manage large-scale contracts with the U.S. Air Force and its associated organizations.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior military leaders and government officials.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience with government contracting, including IDIQs, OTAs, and other acquisition vehicles.
  • Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain a clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business development efforts targeting the U.S. Air Force, driving strategic growth by identifying, pursuing, and securing high-value contracts and partnerships.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to expand the company’s presence across U.S. Air Force programs, ensuring alignment with evolving mission requirements and technological priorities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior Air Force officials, program managers, and key decision-makers within the Department of the Air Force, including the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), and operational commands.
  • Identify and develop opportunities in areas such as advanced aerospace systems, ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance), unmanned platforms, and emerging technologies, including AI/ML and autonomy.
  • Act as the company’s primary representative at Air Force-focused events, conferences, and industry forums, showcasing the company’s capabilities and reinforcing its position as a trusted partner.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, program management, and marketing, to deliver tailored solutions that meet Air Force mission needs.
  • Provide market insights by analyzing Air Force budget priorities, operational trends, and procurement processes to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Lead capture and proposal efforts for Air Force programs, ensuring compliance with government requirements and alignment with Air Force objectives.
  • Ensure all business activities adhere to federal regulations, including FAR/DFAR, ITAR, and Air Force-specific acquisition frameworks.
  • Stay informed on advancements in aerospace and defense technologies, leveraging emerging trends to position the company as a leader in delivering innovative solutions for the Air Force.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience working with U.S. Air Force programs, such as those managed by AFLCMC, AFRL, or Air Combat Command (ACC).
  • Established network of relationships within the U.S. Air Force, including senior military leaders and acquisition program managers.
  • Expertise in advanced aerospace technologies, including autonomous systems, ISR platforms, hypersonics, or space systems.
  • Familiarity with Air Force-specific rapid acquisition processes, including the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program and AFWERX initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of Air Force budget cycles, program priorities, and defense acquisition strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage classified programs, including compliance with DoD security regulations and facility requirements.
