Requirements
- B.A. (or equivalent degree) – a higher level degree may substitute for relevant experience
- Typically, 8+ years of progressive aviation experience, which includes 4+ years of management experience
- Experience with aviation safety standards and safe operating practices
- Comprehensive knowledge with aviation safety standards, safe operating practices, aircraft maintenance and inspection processes, procedures and/or returning planes to service
- Strong communication skills both written, verbal, and conflict resolution skills
- Basic Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experience with Aircraft Maintenance and Inspection processes and procedures and/or returning planes to service
- Familiarity with standing up and managing aircraft operations
- Current/active CBP Background Investigation Required
- The ability to obtain/maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
Responsibilities
- In-House Repair Aircraft Maintenance Manager for the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) contract at SNC is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and overall airworthiness of CBP’s In-House Repairs of the aircraft fleets, engines, props, flight controls etc.
- Coordinates maintenance daily with the CBP Aviation Maintenance Officer (AMO)
- This position requires a comprehensive understanding of Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP), federal regulations and CBP policies to ensure that all (O/I/D) maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with the highest standards of safety and operational readiness
- The manager will be tasked with planning, coordinating, and supervising all maintenance activities (scheduled and unscheduled), developing and implementing maintenance schedules, and monitoring the performance of maintenance operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
- In addition to maintenance management, the Aircraft Maintenance Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, OSHA and industry standards. Will also include handing of HAZMAT Material
- This includes maintaining detailed records of all maintenance work, inspections, and repairs, as well as conducting regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards
- Manage and expanding in-house component repair at multiple locations
- The role also involves supervising maintenance personnel, which includes hiring, training and certifications, as well as evaluating staff, while fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team
- The manager will oversee inventory and resource management used for detachments, ensuring that maintenance supplies, parts, and equipment are procured and managed effectively
- This includes maintaining proper inventory levels and coordinating with the program Logistics Manager to obtain high-quality parts and services
- Budget management is another critical aspect of this role, where the manager will, monitor expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies
- Finally, the Aircraft Maintenance Manager will oversee the troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues related to aircraft maintenance, providing technical expertise and support to address complex maintenance challenges and implementing corrective actions to improve maintenance processes
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all maintenance activities for the CBP’s aircraft fleet under this contract. Maintenance includes Scheduled and Unscheduled Maintenance as well as paint and corrosion control on the aircraft including all support equipment
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure timely inspections and repairs
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of maintenance operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations, CBP policies, and industry standards
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance work, inspections, and repairs
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards
- Supervise and manage maintenance personnel, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff
- Provide guidance and support to maintenance technicians and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team and other contract maintenance locations
- Oversee the management of maintenance supplies, parts, and equipment received to be installed on the aircraft
- Ensure proper inventory levels are maintained to support maintenance activities
- Coordinate with Logistics Manager to ensure that all vendors and suppliers provide in high-quality parts and services
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources
- Monitor expenditures and provide regular financial reports to senior management
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies
- Implement corrective actions to address deficiencies and improve maintenance processes
- Participation in Program Management Reviews (PMR) with the CBP Customer
- Will act as the Site Manager in the absence of the Site Manager
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous management or lead experience; the ability to recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification and Inspection Authorization (IA) Designation
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
