Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA).
  • One year experience working in a healthcare setting or successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or similar healthcare-related training program.
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in Science can substitute one year of work experience in healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Stocks the carts and surgical suites with the required supplies as outlined on the anesthesia surgical suite stock par list.
  • Assist with difficult airway management by assisting with equipment needs from the providers.
  • Disassemble, decontaminate, and sterilize anesthesia equipment and supplies. Report equipment problems to the management team.
  • Perform Point of Care (POCT) testing procedures, after an initial approved competency has been completed.
  • Effectively communicate with anesthesia and operating room staff to assure daily operating room assignments are prioritized at the start of each shift. Remain accessible in operating rooms at all times.
  • Efficiently transport all anesthesia related equipment and supplies to and from outside of Operating Rooms off-site locations.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records and checks status of orders and equipment.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of all stock items in the work room and keep the work room clean and in an orderly condition.
  • Maintain anesthesia supplies by establishing inventory levels; requisitioning supplies; restocking supply.
  • Maintain equipment by preparing, testing, and setting up a variety of anesthetic equipment for surgical use; troubleshooting equipment for problems or repairs; performing preventative maintenance and routine cleaning.
  • Participate in turning over rooms assuring minimal downtime between cases.
  • Retrieve and appropriately distribute the equipment necessary to prepare a patient for anesthesia. This includes specialty equipment for invasive lines and monitoring, difficult airway, and pediatric procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct patient care and/or surgical/OR environment experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
