Requirements
- Earned PhD in data science, information systems, computer science, computer engineering, or closely related discipline
- 5+ years required (8+ years preferred) of experience in data architectures in the life science/drug discovery field or industry
- Deep understanding of how to structure and manage vast amounts of information, not just for current needs but also with an eye toward future requirements
- Experience in LIMS (e.g. Benchling), data warehouse (e.g. Snowflakes) and SQL
- Advanced knowledge in data modeling techniques
- Proficiency with big data technologies
- Familiarity with cloud services platforms
- Strong analytical skills to align technical solutions with business goals
- Ability to oversee large-scale database architectures
- Experience in setting up data policies and governance framework within pharmaceutical environments
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with function and platform heads to determine data storage and organizational needs
- Define data infrastructure for GAD, design robust data models to support Sanofi Vaccines R&D operations
- Create visual layouts to display data
- Implement data governance and security measures
- Develop strategies for database growth and scalability
- Collaborate with global transversal operation and digital teams to integrate new technologies
- Maintain integrity and accessibility of company data
- Integrate data from different (internal and external) sources (Benchling ELN, PDB, UNIPROT, etc)
- Identifying areas for improvement in current systems
- Coordinating with other team members to reach project milestones and deadlines
- Auditing database regularly to maintain quality
- Ensure data security
- Identify internal and external data sources
- Publishing and/or presenting design reports
- Ensures regular communication: definition of the needs, harmonization of methods, efficient transfer of assets
- Acts as a catalyzer to promote visibility on technological aspects
- Keeps up to date with aspects related to data solutions
- Ensures efficient reporting of activities
- Train scientists and colleagues in the use of data
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in data architectures in the life science/drug discovery field or industry preferred
- A strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data
- Asymmetrical thinker who sees patterns of the big picture emerge from the parts
- Creative brainstormer, skilled in divergent thinking
