Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline, science, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience with a strong knowledge of systems engineering principles
- Experience in space, ground, or end-to-end system or enterprise architecting, systems engineering, concurrent engineering, concept design, or model-based systems engineering, through relevant work and/or graduate school experience
- Ability to organize and lead cross-functional, cross-organizational teams to execute projects or studies
- Strong people management, interpersonal, and networking skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present methods and results effectively in briefings, formal reports, and informal communications
- Exceptional time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Available to travel domestically
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct staff performance reviews and other personnel management functions for early career staff such as managing team resources and needs, providing career development and mentoring
- Mentor section staff both in technical and career growth
- Manage ArCon system architecture staff located in Chantilly, VA; Colorado Springs, CO; and El Segundo, CA working disparate problems
- Be an active department focal for program office inquiries for current and future tasking involving space, ground, and end-to-end system architectures
- Pursue opportunities for additional, expanded, and new tasking for staff and identify appropriate personnel to perform the work
- Lead and participate in architecture studies of system concepts, to include multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Apply and develop disciplined system architecting methods, processes, and tools in a broad range of architecture-level assessment, modeling, analysis, and conceptual design activities
- Use, develop, and integrate analytical methods and tools to evaluate architectural concepts and system conceptual designs for cost, schedule, performance, risk, resilience to disruptive events or threats, and other characteristics
- Work with Aerospace program office, customer, and contractor personnel as a technical subject matter expert and project leader to elicit and identify needs, requirements, and constraints for studies; build cross-disciplinary teams; scope, plan, and execute the study; and effectively communicate task status, methods, results, and recommendations in briefings and formal technical reports
- Collaborate with other Aerospace personnel to marshal technical expertise in multiple technical disciplines and domains to enable concurrent engineering approaches to address complex problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) from an accredited program in a relevant engineering discipline
- Demonstrated initiative to innovate, shape, drive, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of tasks or projects
- Demonstrated experience organizing and leading cross-functional, cross-organizational teams to execute projects or studies
- Hands-on experience with system modeling in the Systems Modeling Language (SysML) or Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)
- Experience in hiring, managing, and mentoring staff
- Experience with the Defense and Intelligence Community
