Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in student personnel/other related field.
  • Six years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes administrative responsibility for the department when tasked by higher authority.
  • Assists with the overall management and operations of the Office for Student Conduct.
  • Responsible for oversight of departmental marketing, publications, website, and outreach of educational initiatives in coordination with University Marketing & Communication.
  • Coordinates with University colleagues with the implementation of special projects and programs as assigned.
  • Creates and develops trainings, workshops, and sanctions to support the prevention and outreach efforts of the Office for Student Conduct.
  • Coordinates student conduct panel member training for University constituencies.
  • Reviews incident reports and initiates the Student Conduct Review Process.
  • Meets with students to facilitate the student conduct process regarding alleged violations of the student conduct code.
  • Adjudicates alleged violations of the conduct code in accordance with PVAMU policies and procedures.
  • Independently manages assigned cases from inception through completion ensuring compliance with timelines, due process, and policies.
  • Investigates alleged violations as appropriate, drafts, reviews, and sends relevant correspondence for assigned cases.
  • Conducts informal and formal proceedings concerning alleged violations of the PVAMU student conduct codes.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of cases and proceedings in Maxient (Student Conduct Database).
  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of reports, assessments, and other necessary tasks.
  • Develops and assists with conflict resolution, mediation, and the de-escalation of disputes.
  • Responds to inquiries from outside constituents regarding student cases as prescribed by departmental, University, and other relevant policies and laws.
  • Responds to inquiries for student conduct status for students attempting to participate or join campus-approved clubs/organizations.
  • Represents the department at university meetings, committees, and functions, as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in student personnel or other related field required.
  • 3 plus years’ experience in student conduct.
  • Experience managing cases using Maxient case management software and Banner.
  • Conflict management and mediation training.
  • Experience in adjudicating individual conduct and an understanding of the role of student conduct in a public university.
  • Experience developing workshops, sanctions, or programs.
  • Experience in problem-solving, interviewing, and investigation.
