Requirements
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business related or food service-related field desirable
- Minimum (2) years’ experience in management in a retail/restaurant/supermarket environment
- Meat management experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Promotes excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer focused behavior with associates
- Takes customer orders over the phone or in person at the store with a pleasant and positive attitude
- Ensures fresh quality merchandise by using proper product handling techniques
- Assists Meat Manager in day-to-day functions of Meat operations such as merchandising, ad execution, associate engagement and customer service
- Coordinates sales and merchandising plans for the department to ensure proper stock levels and freshness
- Oversees department inventories by tracking weekly sales reports, product orders and supplies to ensure successful period-end physical inventory
- Assists with scheduling all department associates, participates in training, rewards and recognizes performance and delegates work assignments
- Manages inventory levels and reviews orders to ensure product quantities meet customer demand
- Checks and verifies all department deliveries and invoices to ensure accurate billing
- Controls department expenses by improving operations and efficiencies
- Keeps meat department cases well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand
- Sets up displays and rotates product as needed
- May grind and cut certain meats and poultry
- Weighs and wraps merchandise; applies sticker showing correct price and weight
- Maintains backroom and receiving area security and organization by promoting 5S procedures
- May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties if properly trained
- Ensure smooth workflow within department by cooperating with co-workers and superiors
- Responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE)
