Requirements

  • PhD degree in Language Education, Applied Linguistics, or a related field, with a focus on plurilingualism and/or critical sociolinguistics
  • Knowledge of heritage, Indigenous or other minority language programs
  • Knowledge of ethnolinguistically marginalized and/or racialized communities
  • Knowledge of the sociopolitical context of language education in Quebec
  • Proficiency in English and French
  • An additional language would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses
  • Supervision of individual students
  • Assessment of student work
  • Applying for grants and conducting funded research
  • Engaging in original scholarly activities
  • Contributing to the university and scholarly communities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Elementary/secondary school and/or higher education teaching experience related to second language pedagogy in Quebec and/or Canada
  • Familiarity with the competency-based approach of the Quebec Education Program (QEP)
  • Experience in language assessment
  • Familiarity with language frameworks (e.g. CEFR, CLB)
  • Experience with qualitative/ethnographic approaches to research
  • Experience with mixed-methods research
  • Graduate supervision
  • Teaching an additional language to learners of any age
