Requirements

  • PhD degree in second language education, applied linguistics, and/or a related field
  • Fluency in both French and English
  • Specialization in teaching French as a second language (e.g., immersion education or other content-based approaches)
  • Experience in teacher education
  • Background in social justice education

Responsibilities

  • Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses
  • Supervision of individual students
  • Assessment of student work
  • Applying for grants and conducting funded research
  • Engaging in original scholarly activities
  • Contributing to the University and scholarly communities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Elementary/secondary school and/or higher education teaching experience related to second language pedagogy in Quebec and/or Canada
  • Experience in classroom-based research
  • Experience in decolonial and plurilingual pedagogies
  • Experience with qualitative/ethnographic approaches to research
  • Experience with mixed methods research
  • Graduate supervision
  • Experience teaching French as an additional language to learners of any age
  • Knowledge of, and connection to, marginalized and/or racialized communities
  • Awareness of the socio-political context of language education in Quebec
