Requirements

  • A terminal degree (MFA or equivalent) in Graphic Design, Art and Technology, Digital Arts, Interaction/Experience Design or related field by August 15, 2025.
  • Demonstrated experience with practicing, teaching, or researching in two or more of the following areas: UI/UX design, emerging media design, interactive design, generative media, creative computation, motion design, coded typography, digital storytelling and data visualization.
  • Min. 1 year of teaching experience at the university level, which may include experience as an instructor of record.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and engage in scholarly research and service to the School, College, and University.
  • Teaching assignments are a 3:2 course load, and include studios and seminars at the undergraduate and graduate level for students in BA, BFA and MFA programs.
  • Additional responsibilities include student advising, mentoring for the graphic design program and involvement in the Graphic Design Student Office (GDSO).

Preferred Qualifications

  • An established record of creative practice in graphic design, experience design, interactive design or related field.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of traditional design principles related to typography, publication design, identity design, and design research.
  • Experience and future aspirations for grant writing/scholarly research awards.
  • Ability to demonstrate, through their teaching philosophy or record, an ability to mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students to foster collaboration, experimentation, and innovation across departments.
  • Evidence of collaboration skills, multidisciplinary activities and maintaining professional relationships outside of the university.
