Requirements
- Candidates must have at least one graduate degree in construction engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related field.
- The successful candidate will have a background in construction engineering with emphasis on intelligent construction project management (including project scheduling plus cost estimating), sustainable building materials and decarbonization, construction safety and risk management, building codes and contracts, construction economics, and building information modeling.
- The successful candidate will be expected to incorporate teaching methods that promote learning among diverse populations and will create a learning environment that genuinely supports, respects, and addresses the diverse needs of student populations at Penn State Harrisburg.
Responsibilities
- Teach 12 credit hours per semester in areas including modern construction methods, intelligent construction and management systems, sustainable building materials and decarbonization of construction, construction safety and risk management, construction cost estimating, planning and scheduling, project controls and optimization, building information modeling (BIM), ethics and professionalism, and building codes and contracts.
- Participate in recruitment and retention activities, advise both undergraduate and graduate students, and supervise graduate student culminating experiences.
- Keep up to date on and incorporate appropriate pedagogical advancements into the classroom, and share activities with colleagues through participation in seminars and conferences.
- Serve on committees at the department, school, and college level to advance the mission of the college and university, and actively promote and advance the school’s commitment to education and improving the diversity of voices in STEM.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference will be given to candidates who have prior teaching experience in civil or construction engineering.
