Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, Physical Science or related technical discipline required
  • 7+ years of progressive EHS experience
  • Willingness to travel to various sites across the Americas Region as required (travel up to 20%)
  • Strong project management skills, supporting multiple activities/projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for EHS matters within the MAHTS Americas Region, coordinating with operational leadership, site managers, and external stakeholders.
  • Exercise a high degree of independence, leading and guiding a small team of EHS professionals, ensuring effective collaboration and communication amongst team members.
  • Plan, develop, and support implementation of EHS programs for multiple sites to assure continuous compliance with local, state and federal legislation, Company standards and industry best practices.
  • Serve as interface with local governmental EHS agencies and insurance carriers.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental licenses and permits at MAHTS sites.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate complex technical and regulatory information to senior level leaders.
  • Oversee the investigation of EHS incidents, including accidents and near misses, and ensure proper reporting and effective corrective and preventive action plans; regularly monitor and evaluate effectiveness of mitigation efforts.
  • Strong leadership in setting direction and expectations for EHS programs to capital project teams.
  • Oversee change management processes for EHS initiatives, ensuring major transitions are effectively planned and executed to maintain continuous compliance with applicable regulations and organizational standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement focused on both approaches and outcomes.
  • Manage budgetary & capital needs to support EHS initiatives, projects and programs.
  • Track and support the completion of required reports to site, divisional and/or corporate management and regulatory agencies.

  • Proficiency in EHS regulations and best practices across North and South America.
  • Proven leadership and change leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, ability to work transparently and with a sense of urgency across various businesses, functions and cultures.
  • Result oriented, timely deliverance on objectives within budgetary limits.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
