Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years of experience and 1 year of supervisory or administrative experience related to the duties of the job.
- Associate’s degree in veterinary technology with 4 years experience.
- Certification as a vet tech or equivalent with 4 years experience.
- 7 Years of experience in a working environment with similar duties.
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, & manage the large animal nursing staff.
- Maintain a staff schedule that ensures appropriate technical staff coverage, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Work with the nursing director to recruit, interview, hire, & train new staff.
- Conduct performance reviews & planning sessions with current staff.
- Hold staff accountable, documenting coaching conversations & following through with disciplinary write-ups as recommended by HRM.
- Provide technical veterinary support to faculty, house officers, technicians, and students throughout the large animal hospital.
- Perform and teach a variety of procedures such as bandages, sample collections, venipuncture, medication administration, blood transfusion, ultrasound, joint injection, IVC placement, naso-gastric intubation, etc.
- Provide emergency on-call coverage.
