Requirements

  • Doctorate in nursing or a related field from an accredited College or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
  • Hold or be qualified to hold a Nevada RN license
  • Record of extensive scholarly achievement for senior level nursing faculty member
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment

Responsibilities

  • Teach nursing courses consistent with area of expertise
  • Collaborate with other faculty in course development
  • Use teaching resources, such as WebCampus/Canvas to foster learning
  • Provide student supervision
  • Participate in school, university, professional and community service activities
  • Engage in research leading to publications in quality, refereed journals
  • Seek internal and external grant funds
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Council and appropriate School and University committees
  • Provide leadership in the management of the graduate/post-graduate program
  • Oversee development and evaluation of clinical sites and preceptors
  • Develop and implement schema for course offerings and schedules each semester
  • Refine, document, and communicate educational policies and procedures in the graduate/post-graduate program
  • Integrate research and faculty research expertise into the graduate curriculum
  • Engage in the full graduate student life cycle
  • Represent the School of Nursing on University academic and student committees
  • Participate in the assessment and evaluation of innovative technological teaching tools for the graduate program
  • Responsible for reviewing faculty recommendations for graduate course, curricula, and program changes prior to GPC review
  • Ensure that the graduate/post graduate programs meet the standards and policies of the School and accrediting agencies
  • Responsible for monitoring and retaining data needed for accreditation or other program related reports
  • Identify programmatic needs for faculty recruitment
  • Recommend faculty assignments related to the graduate/post-graduate program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification and licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse preferred
