Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in the insurance sector, investment banking or financial services with significant experience in the financial services / insurance industry
  • Experience with financial analysis of annuities and/or life insurance
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage several projects
  • Strong collaboration abilities with broader organizational leadership
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of global accounting and regulatory regimes
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, with the ability to organize, and manage audits of large projects
  • Exhibit dedication to completing tasks thoroughly and on time, including under time pressure and outside normal working hours
  • Ability to view ‘big picture’, understand broad corporate impacts, and focus on company objectives
  • Ability to interact with executive management, directors and counterparty management

Responsibilities

  • Lead and / or support all phases of a transaction process, from initial target identification through bidding, transaction structuring, contract negotiation, closing and post-close activities
  • Manage third-party reinsurance clients, including ongoing discussions on industry trends, new and existing products, rate setting strategies, rate communications and additional business opportunities
  • Prepare internal deal documents and materials for the management approval process
  • Develop and present materials for a variety of audiences including senior management and Board of Directors
  • Oversee projects, collaborate with other business units, and maintain third party business relationships
  • Analyze due diligence materials including actuarial appraisals, confidential information memoranda, policy forms, product specifications and insurance liability cash flows
  • Document internal controls, develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance transaction review process and overall quality of deliverables
  • Research and summarize actuarial concepts, regulations and industry trends including actuarial guidelines, capital market and insurance industry activities and trends which could impact deal valuation
  • Work collaboratively with peers and manage or mentor less experienced staff
  • Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality in all dealings
  • Some travel will be required
