Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership, people management and developmental skills
  • Dynamic and motivated individual, capable of handling complex structured tasks that require close attention to timing and detail, as well as unplanned projects and challenges that require effective and unique solutions, often in a compressed timeframe
  • Experience with and exposure to various operational disciplines (actuarial, underwriting, claims, IT, etc.)
  • Experience managing finance and accounting data
  • Ability to effectively communicate analysis and conclusions to financial information end-users
  • Hands-on experience and strong aptitude with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI, Workday
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), evaluating, influencing, negotiating, listening, and interpersonal skills to effectively develop productive working relationships with internal/external peers and other professionals across organizational lines
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and present information in a clear and succinct manner

Responsibilities

  • Manage the quarterly close process, including premium, loss, acquisition costs, preparation of Profit and Loss reporting, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, MD&A’s, and all other financial information used by the company in managing and analyzing our books of business.
  • Manage a team of two onshore resources and oversight of three offshore resources
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure set-up of current and new business activities is accurate and efficient
  • Take part in special projects, including testing and implementation of new systems, process improvements (including early close issue) and data quality initiatives
  • Will have extensive interaction with various departments/disciplines at the group, including other areas in finance, actuarial, legal, reinsurance, claims and IT

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Travel, Accident and Disability products is a plus
  • Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant is a plus
  • CPCU or other Insurance designations is a plus
