Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience as a senior underwriter with 10+ years of experience focusing on property facultative underwriting.
- Flexibility to market and travel up to 20%.
- The ability to interpret catastrophe modeling and actuarial methodologies and output.
- Must possess established relationships with brokers and direct markets.
- Capable of managing a large portfolio.
- Knowledge of attritional loss costs.
- Strong decision-making skills.
Responsibilities
- Manage and underwrite a large book of national risks over various occupancies through the broker channel on a pro rata and excess basis.
- Develop new business opportunities in order to achieve company goals for growth and profitability.
- Work with all functional areas of the company including claims, accounting, actuarial and product management to support company objectives.
- Adhere to pricing and selection standards that supports strategic objectives and achieve desired financial goals.
- Maintain awareness of competitor capabilities and strategies, as well as the overall insurance marketplace.
- Referral approver once underwriting authority is obtained.
- Assist in developing junior staff.
- Assist with managing risk on a portfolio basis.
- Assist with improvement of underwriting processes and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Large general property, complex risk and B&M underwriting experience preferred.
