Requirements
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited technical institute (or equivalent).
- 10+ years of related structural and bridge drafting experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and working knowledge of Civil 3D.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and/or Bluebeam.
- Time management, leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare difficult and complex layout and design drawings utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge.
- Performs complex drafting tasks efficiently and accurately both independently and as part of a team.
- Interprets and ensures conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Understands and utilizes more advanced software to complete assignments.
- Works closely with Engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design systems.
- Meets layout requirements and develops alternate design layouts of systems as required.
- Prepares reinforcing details, bar schedules, and bill of materials.
- May assist in inspections of existing bridges and other structures under construction.
- Reviews supplier data and supplier drawings, as required.
- Develops and reviews orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) drawings.
- Performs checking procedures as appropriate to the discipline and assigned by immediate supervisor.
- Provides input and technical guidance for mentoring lower-level Designers working on the same and other projects.
- Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations, is expected subject to project needs.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in bridge projects with Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure (MTI) and the City of Winnipeg (COW).
- Experience with MicroStation and or Revit is an asset.
