Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Cardio-Respiratory Sciences, Health Services Administration, or similar
- Associate degree in Respiratory Care/Cardio-Respiratory Sciences from a CoARC approved Respiratory Care Program
- Licensed, Registered Respiratory Therapist – NYS Department of Education
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Active Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP
- At least 5 years of clinical experience in the setting of an academic medical center with clinical competency in neonatal, pediatric, and adult critical care
- At least 1 year of pulmonary function testing experience (preferred)
- Children’s Hospital Transport skill set (preferred)
- Has functioned routinely in the ‘Charge’ or ‘Resource’ role in the absence of the Supervisor/Manager
Responsibilities
- Ensuring adequate staffing and skill mix across their assigned shift
- Promoting professional excellence through workforce development
- Supporting AMC research activities
- Interacting daily with staff, colleagues, and the Manager to discuss issues, problems, and strategies
- Responsible for the day-to-day shift operation, including corrective action, staff assignment, problem follow-up, staff evaluation, and clinical practice
- Undertaking various projects at the request of the Manager and reporting on these as requested
- Active involvement in hospital intra-disciplinary QITs
Preferred Qualifications
- NBRC Specialty Credential preferred
- At least 1 year of pulmonary function testing experience (preferred)
- Children’s Hospital Transport skill set (preferred)
